Cricket Formats and Tournaments

Cricket is Bangladesh's most familiar sport — and the most talked-about topic in the betting world. You can bet on matches across three main formats at bp taka.

T20 is the fastest format — just 20 overs per side, so odds move up and down in moments. BPL and IPL are the most popular events in this format. When local teams take the field during the season, interest in betting rises significantly.

ODI, or one-day cricket, gives you more opportunity to read the flow of a 50-over match and place informed bets. ODI markets are quite active during ICC tournaments and bilateral series.

Test cricket is a five-day contest. Here the approach is not quick decisions but slow, careful reading of the match before analysing markets. Innings-based markets and series result options are more commonly available in Tests.

Beyond Bangladesh Tigers international matches, bp taka has the widest variety of markets across three events — BPL, IPL and the T20 World Cup.

Football and Other Sports

Alongside cricket, bp taka also has markets for football. In football there are three possible results — team A wins, team B wins or a draw. This third option does not exist in cricket (limited-overs matches never end in a draw, though a tie or draw is possible in Tests). As a result, the odds structure in football is different.

In cricket, every ball, wicket and over shifts the odds — which makes in-play betting very lively. In football, odds change when a goal is scored, but the pattern of movement is different. In tennis or badminton, odds move with every point.

bp taka also offers virtual sports betting, where you can place bets at any time outside the schedule of real matches — see that page for details. Crash bonus games also give a quick-result experience — this is a separate section from sports betting.

Cricket vs Football Betting

  • No draw market in cricket (T20/ODI)
  • Three possible results in football
  • Wicket-based live markets in cricket
  • Half-time/full-time markets separate in football

Popular Betting Markets

Match Winner

The simplest market — which team will win the match. For example: if you bet on team A to win, you only win if team A wins.

T20 ODI

Toss Winner

A bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. The result is completely 50-50, so the odds are usually close to even.

Pre-Match

Top Run Scorer

Which batter will score the most runs within a team or across the whole match — this market has many options, so the odds are varied.

T20 ODI

Total Runs Over/Under

Whether the total runs in a full innings or a specific set of overs will be above or below a set number. Example: whether more than 50 runs will be scored in the first 6 overs.

Powerplay

First Wicket

At what score or exactly which over the first wicket of an innings will fall — in in-play betting this market is decided within a short time.

In-Play

Multi Bet

Multiple selections are combined into one bet. All selections must be correct to win; if one is wrong the entire bet is lost — but if all are correct the return is much higher.

How to Read Odds

bp taka Odds Format Decimal Fractional American

Odds are written in three formats — decimal, fractional and American. All three give the same information, only the way they are written differs.

Format Team A Win Explanation
Decimal 2.25 Total return including stake
Fractional 5/4 ৳5 profit on a ৳4 stake
American +125 ৳125 profit on a ৳100 bet

Example 1 — ৳200 bet on team A to win: Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125. If team A wins you get back ৳450 (৳250 profit + ৳200 stake); if they lose you lose ৳200.

Example 2 — ৳200 bet on favourite team B to win: Decimal 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200 (minus odds means how much you need to stake to win ৳100). If team B wins you get back ৳300 (৳100 profit).

In a multi bet, three selections with odds of 1.60 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.90 (approximately). On a ৳100 bet, if all are correct you get back ৳490; if even one is wrong you lose the full ৳100.

Live In-Play Betting

LIVE

Betting before a match starts is one kind of experience, and in-play betting while the match is in progress feels completely different. The situation changes after every ball, and the odds move with those changes.

Say team A is batting in a T20 match and has scored 90 runs for 2 wickets in 10 overs — at this point team A's odds to win will naturally shorten (because they are in a good position). If three wickets suddenly fall, the odds can quickly flip.

In ODI, the result of powerplay overs, and in Tests, the pitch and light on the final day — all of these affect in-play markets. Live markets at bp taka update in real time, so if you watch the match carefully you can make decisions based on your own judgement.

Keep in mind though — in in-play betting you have less time to decide. Play without rushing, and stick to your limits. Learn more about responsible gaming.

In what situations do odds change?

  • When a wicket falls, the bowling team's odds shorten
  • After a big over, the batting team's odds improve
  • If rain stops play, odds are reset according to D/L
  • When the required run rate becomes easier, odds change quickly
  • A successful fielding review or DRS decision shifts momentum

Bet Responsibly

Betting is a form of entertainment — it is not a way to earn income. Keeping a few practical points in mind will make your betting experience more controlled and enjoyable.

  • Set a budget: Before each session, decide how much you will spend and stick to that limit.
  • Start with one format: T20 is the easiest format to understand — it is a good place to start.
  • Learn to read odds: Before placing a bet, calculate the possible return from the decimal odds.
  • Do not open too many bets at once: When many markets are open at the same time, it becomes difficult to keep track of things.
  • Do not chase losses: If you lose a bet, do not immediately place a larger bet trying to recover the loss.
  • Know the rules: Before placing a bet, read the terms and conditions carefully — especially the conditions related to bonus wagering.

Frequently Asked Questions

T20 is the fastest and most active format — especially during BPL and IPL seasons, the number of markets and activity is much higher. ODI offers more strategic markets over longer innings. Test cricket has series-based markets that are popular but fewer in number.

Yes. Pre-match has markets like match winner, toss and series result. In-play betting opens smaller, quick-decision markets such as next wicket, runs in the next over or total runs remaining in an innings — these update after every ball.

Generally, correlated markets from the same match (such as match winner and top batter from the same team) cannot be combined in a multi bet — because they influence each other. Combining selections from separate matches is the simplest approach. Multi bet rules at bp taka are detailed on the terms and conditions page.

If a match is stopped mid-way due to rain or another reason, the result is usually determined by the D/L method, or if the match is cancelled the bet is refunded — depending on bp taka's specific rules. For accurate information in any situation, check the FAQ page or contact 24/7 live chat.

In a handicap market, one team is given a virtual advantage or disadvantage to make the odds more even between the two sides. In an over/under market, you choose whether a specific number (such as total runs) will be above or below a set figure. Both markets are settled numerically, so it is important to read the conditions carefully beforehand.
